(St. Louis, MO) — The Cardinals have released 33 minor league players within the past week. The releases included eight players chosen in the 2019 draft and eight from 2018. Nine players from the Low-A Peoria affiliate were released. The timing comes just before St. Louis committed to pay active minor league players 400-hundred a week. Among the cuts were Johnny Hellweg and Carlos Hernandez, who have spent time in the majors.
