(Chicago, IL) — The White Sox are mourning the passing of longtime announcer and former player Ed Farmer. The South Side native died Wednesday night at the age of 70. Farmer worked as a radio broadcaster for the Sox for nearly 30 years. He pitched 11 seasons in the major leagues from 1971-83, including three with his hometown White Sox. The St. Rita High School graduate earned his lone career All-Star nod in 1980, when he saved 30 and posted a 3.34 ERA for the Pale Hose.
