Vandalia High School Athletic Director Jason Clay and coaches and members of the three spring sports teams at VCHS met after school on Monday and the message was one of hope. Guidelines per the IHSA were addressed for what will be allowed and will not be allowed over this two-week time period in which schools are closed and practices and contests are all suspended, but the message was also one that each sport team in the state is all in the same boat dealing with this unique situation. And, Clay says he is hopeful that we see a slow to the spread of COVID-19 with these precautions and that schools can resume class and and that spring sports can get underway sooner rather than later.
It has been relayed to all athletes that per the IHSA, athletes should not practice or compete with their non-school (club/travel) teams or else they will be ineligible for their respective high school team when the school closures and spring sports suspension comes to an end.
