The Girls EIU Indoor Track Meet scheduled for this Saturday, March 14 and the Boys EIU Indoor Track Meet scheduled for Saturday, March 21 have been canceled. The meets are hosted by Charleston High School which sent out an email to schools this afternoon with the following statement:
“Charleston High School has made the decision to cancel both of our upcoming indoor track meets at Eastern Illinois University. That would include the girls’ meet, scheduled for Saturday, March 14th, and the boys’ meet, scheduled for Saturday, March 21st. We have done this out of an abundance of caution and following the lead of the IHSA’s announcement this morning. EIU’s indoor facility can be very crowded for this meet and we felt that it is in the best interests of both athletes and spectators to not be crowded into an enclosed indoor environment.”
I70Sports area teams impacted by this announcement are Vandalia High School Boys and Girls Track, Greenville High School Boys and Girls Track and Brownstown-St. Elmo Boys and Girls Track.
