Seven Vandalia wrestlers will begin their quest for a state title today at the IHSA Individual Wrestling State Tournament in Champaign. Preliminary round action for Class 1A will get underway at noon. For the Vandals, Jarek Wehrle will start things off at 106lbs with Owen Miller at 113lbs and Cutter Prater at 120lbs following him. In the middleweights, brothers Ryan Kaiser and Bradyn Kaiser will compete at 138lbs and 152lbs, respectively. And in the upperweights, Gavin Mouser will wrestle at 195lbs and Anthony Enlow at 285lbs.
Preliminary winners will then wrestle in the Winners Bracket Quarterfinals beginning at 6:45pm. Class 1A 1st and 2nd Round Wrestlebacks will be Friday beginning at 11am and the Championship Semifinals will be Friday evening at 7pm. The tournament wraps up on Saturday with the completion on Wrestlebacks and the 3rd-6th place matches leading up to the Championship matches on Saturday night.
