The Greenville Lady Comet Varsity Cheer team punched their ticket to the IHSA Competitive Cheerleading State Finals in the Small Team Division after picking up their second consecutive Sectional title this past Saturday at the Carterville Sectional. The title is their second in a row after winning the Edwardsville Sectional Small Team Division in 2019 and is their third title in five years after they won a Sectional Championship in 2016.
Varsity team members competing for the Comets this weekend are Kaylan Lile, Nevaeh Haas, Trista Kinkel, Elena Valentin, Kyley Sugg, Sophie Warchol, Alli Suess, Abby Wall, Kelsie Hemann, Avery Cantrill, Lily Prater, Lilee Joiner. The team is coached by Amanda Goldsboro (Varsity) and Allyson Loucks (JV).
The State Finals are being held at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington on Friday and Saturday. The Comets are set to perform in the preliminary round on Friday at 11:25am. The top ten preliminary finishers in the Small Team division who will advance to the Finals on Saturday will then be announced at about 1:15pm. Finals on Saturday will begin at 11am.
