Lady Comets tennis season ended in Sectional on Saturday---Team Awards announced

Greenville concluded their tennis season on Saturday at the Centralia Sectional. In singles, Anna Walker fell in her first match to eventual state qualifier Katie Heldmann from Highland 6-0, 6-0. Kyra Wells defeated her Salem opponent in the first round before losing 6-4, 6-0 to state qualifier L. Carder from Flora. In doubles Emma Siefken/Morgan Wilderman drew #2 seeded Highland falling 6-1, 6-1 while Sarah Brannon/Heidi Summers beat Mt. Vernon then also lost to Highland 6-4, 6-3.

The Lady Comets Awards were held Sunday evening with JV Co-MVP honors going to Paige Mathias and Mary-Kate Long as well as Ashley Forsberg receiving her Varsity letter.
Varsity awards included: Anna Walker/Morgan Wilderman – Most Improved Doubles. Emma Siefken – Most Improved Player, Kyra Wells- Most Valuable Player (13-5 singles record), Heidi Summers- 30 Varsity Points Club for 3rd year in a row, Sarah Brannon – Team Captain & the 3rd member of Lady Comets Century Club = over 100 Varsity points in her high school career.
