Week 4-#7 Vandals (3-0) vs. Roxana (1-2)
It is Homecoming for the Vandals, with an early start time of 6:30 pm for the game at Mark Greer Field. The Vandals are coming off a 49 to 0 win over Staunton while Roxana is coming off their first win of the year, 42 to 12 over Hillsboro.
For the Vandals, they moved up to #7 in this week’s AP Class 3A Football Poll. Thru 3 weeks, the Vandals have scored the most points in the South Central Conference (138) and allowed the fewest (19) to lead the SCC in scoring differential (119).
Roxana is 1-2 on the season. They lost in Week 1 to Carlinville, 21 to 14, in a game that was tied at halftime. Roxana then lost to Pana, 38 to 14, in Week 2 before rebounding with their win over Hillsboro.
For the Shells, Quarterback Gavin Huffman is coming off a strong game, in which he threw for 188 yards and 1 TD versus the Hiltoppers. Running back Michael Ilch also had a strong game, with 12 carries for 192 yards and a TD. WR Parris White has been strong thru the first 1/3 of the season with 12 catches for 199 yards and 2 TDs.
