Week 4-Greenville Comets (3-0) vs. Hillsboro (0-3), 7 pm at Don Stout Field
The Comets are coming off a 41 to 34 win over Carlinville. Early in the 4th quarter of that game, Carlinville scored to tie the game at 34. But, the Comets’ Isaac Green blocked the extra point to keep the game tied. With 7:27 remaining in the game, Green ran for a TD to give the Comets the lead they would never give up. It was another strong game on the ground for the Comets, Green ran for 120 yards (also had 70 yards receiving) and Jack Woods ran for 130 yards and 2 TDs. Comets QB Will Harnetiaux threw for 2 TDs in the game.
For the Hiltoppers, it has been a rough start to the 2019 season. After falling to Piasa SW, 18 to 14, in Week 1, they have lost 40 to 12 to Staunton and then 42 to 12 to Roxana. Hillsboro has scored 40 points thru the first 3 weeks while allowing 100 points.
In this week’s AP poll for Class 3A football, the Comets are among those receiving votes. The Comets received 7 points in the poll and would come in 14th overall.
