The Lady Vandals kicked off their 2019 campaign with a home win over St. Elmo-Brownstown, 25-23, 25-13 on Thursday night. After a close first set that saw the two teams keep within four points of each other most of the set, the Lady Vandals dominated the first half of the second set before stifling an SEB comeback late to pick up the two set win. New Lady Vandals Head Coach Haley Wollerman says this summer her team focused on specific situations when they would have to come back from behind and that helped them correct things in the first set which then rolled over into the second set win.
The Lady Vandals are now 1-0 on the season and will be off until Tuesday when they hit the road for the first time to take on Pana. The fresh-soph team will be in action Saturday at the Pana Fresh-Soph Tourney.
SEB is 0-1 on the season and will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Christ Our Rock Lutheran.
